Oophaga Histrionica Bahia Solano (Oophaga solanensis)

Native to the Bahía Solano municipality of Colombia and it's surrounding areas, this large Oophaga species is known for the stark contrast between its black and red coloring. Adult males are known for being territorial so it is not advisable to house multiple males together. Like all Oophaga species, Bahia Solanos are obligate egg feeders and require large bromeliads in their enclosures to raise tadpoles in. This species is critically endangered due to wildlife trafficking and habitat degradation.
